2020 Spring Season Canceled

Brighton Little League Families,

I write you tonight to let you know how tirelessly we have been working to pull off a spring season. We have met with Dan Velte of Little League International Eastern Region, Danny Cavallo of NYS Little League, Bill Moehle, and Matt Beeman from the Town of Brighton. After these meetings, on Sunday, District 4 had an Executive Board meeting where D4 travel baseball, Intermediate, Juniors, and Seniors baseball along with all D4 softball was cancelled for the 2020 season. This conclusion was made due to the, inability to ensure safety throughout District 4 (Monroe County)

The Brighton Little League board has been meeting every two weeks and the discussions always revolve around safety. We have created a safety plan to meet Little League International, CDC, and Insurance guidelines that continually change. We could not find a way to overcome the variables and constantly changing obstacles, to keep our kids and community safe. Little League is about, community and fun. When you take both of those out of the experience,  it gave us no choice. With that, we have decided to cancel the 2020 spring season.

This decision was not easily made and we are very sad. However, we will have some form of baseball and softball when we are able to safely resume playing. We will continue to stay in contact, letting you know our plans and what to expect from us in August and September.

Please consider that we are a non-profit organization and we have purchased all uniforms, supplies, and have our regular costs of Smash-It-Sports, insurance, and field maintenance. We will be processing full refunds for all house participants by June 30th, 2020. If you would like to donate your registration fee or roll it over to 2021 as a credit, please email Doug Johnson (dougjohnson@brightonlittleleague.org). If we do not hear from you by June 25th, we will mail you a full refund.

Thank you for your commitment and patience to Brighton Little League and our community during this difficult time, we appreciate you and your children more than you know!

Sincerely,

Nate Dusett
